Meet the Staff

Roark Pyle, Building Manager

Roark, 35, was born and raised right here in Lincoln with his mother, step dad, two sisters, and he has two year old nephew. His many hobbies include computers, the Internet, and Ham Radio, Bicycling, and bowling. In addition to his work at the church, Roark also works as a custodian for Lincoln Public Schools.
When Roark moved into the neighborhood several years ago, he was without a church home. He had previously attended another church, but was searching for something closer. He had noticed Grace Chapel after passing it several times, and felt led by the spirit to see what was going on. And his initial reactions were surprising: a small, welcoming community; good Gospel teaching; and lots of opportunities for Godly service.
And it didn’t take Roark long to find an opportunity, either:
“When I first started attending Grace, the first few Sundays I was here, every time I tried to fill out a quarter sheet, every single pencil was broken! After a couple weeks I asked Pastor Mike if anyone was taking care of the pews, pencils, Bibles, etc. He said no, and asked me if I’d like to, and the rest is how should we say, ‘history.’”
But it didn’t stop there.
After becoming a member of the church, Roark’s servant’s heart led him to help out in many other ways: Building maintenance, church cleaner, and office support…to name a few. And while he has had to scale back some of his church duties as life demands more time his responsibilities are no less daunting as Roark continues to hold the position of Grace Chapel’s Building Manager.
Like the apostle Paul, Roark has experienced the proverbial thorn in his side as he has carried many burdens before God in his life. Fortunately, Roark has seen God use these struggles for good.
“It’s brought me closer to God in the way that I wouldn’t be here doing the things He’s allowed and called me to do, except by His grace, even in spite of my own brokenness and sin.”
